Great comments from last night's event at Deptford Lounge: These free spoken word events are a brilliant night out:
•	‘All the authors had great stories to tell. It was also interesting to hear about what their likes and dislikes were and tips about immersing yourself in the capital. I look forward to the next events.’ (Linda)
•	‘I was pleasantly surprised at what I didn’t know about my own city.’ (Dolores)
•	‘A delightful evening: An interesting selection of authors who gave a new twist to London in a fantastic new venue.’ (Hannah)
•	‘Fascinating snapshot of London. Grateful that this kind of eventing exists.’ (Ray)

I have just finished reading this, and really enjoyed it. An excellent choice for a book group, provided everyone is aware of, and comfortable with, the explicit sexual scenes. As the previous commenter says, the book is really well written for the most part, and personally I found the characters and themes engaging. Hollinghurst is a contemporary author to treasure.

My review is here, if interested: http://tinyurl.com/67mk54v

I agree, I read the series this summer after our son got them and told me that I'd really like them. I was a bit sceptical at first, but the story is gripping and the characterisation is complex enough to keep me engaged right through to the end of the third book.
